I am the first to admit that I am no expert in Heraldry,
I have often been
confused by the vast number of different
'Joslin'
shields that have been
sent to me over the last twenty years.
On this page I intend to place various examples,
please do not make the
mistake of thinking that any one of them is the correct one for your family,
Coats of Arms do not belong to the Surname, so don't think that you can use any
as your personal family crest.
To study more about Heraldry, the College of Arms has a very good web page at
www.college-of-arms.gov.uk
you
will find lots of sites on the internet wanting to sell you your family shield,
together with an outline of the surnames family history. (take care!)

Sir Henry Joslin (Hoopey
Hall) Jocelyn
(Hide Hall)
Robert William (Earl of Roden)
In order to keep the page loading time to a minimum
images may
be of a lower quality than I would like, Sorry.

I do have over eighty different shields connected to Joslin's and the
families they married into,
If you need specific details of a Joslin family,
then I will try to help,
I also have a close friend Derrick Walkden; who is an expert in the
field of Heraldry and he has proved very helpful.

The last two shields are part of the history of the Earls of Roden
and
have been fully documented over the years by numerous visitations.
I do not have
a copy of the present Earls coat of arms.
I am very grateful to
Mike Brill
(Josselin Society member) for
the magnificent family tree he provided which shows
the heraldry of all the
families married into the Jocelyn's.
Mike who lives in Essex is connected to the Joslin's of Maldon and Heybridge.
