1851 Census for Devon

The data on this page refers to the Joslin families that were enumerated on the
30^th March 1851 in the county of Devonshire England.
A total population of 567,000 people were in Devon on census night
and we find 354 Joslin’s some of whom were born in the 18^th century.
Full details of their ages, relationships, addresses, occupations etc. can be found on the fully enumerated sheets
that has been filmed and are available at the County Records Office, the Family Record Centre at London,
and the most convenient of all, at your local Mormon Family History Centre, where,
for a modest fee, you can hire the filmed records of the area you want.
In 1995 the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints supplied, as a test, for their forthcoming 1881 census,
a one off disc containing the fully transcribed 1851 census for Norfolk, Warwickshire and Devon,
this disc is still available and is very useful.
It works on its own viewer and is not compatible with the 1881 census viewer.
As most of the Joslin’s in this data set are in families,
David Joslin of Bridgewater and myself have most of them in extensive family trees back in time and
